  13. Dell'Aquila  of  Ohio.   This is verbal confirmation from  the  Senator 
  14. himself of the famous "Blue Room"  incident,  which heretofore we  only 
  15. knew  about  from his letters and from an interview in  a  questionable 
  16. publication.

  21. radio show, October 13, 1988:

  24. CALLER   : Hello  Senator Goldwater,  I've heard in the past  that  you 
  25.            have  an interest in UFOs.  I  just finished a book  called, 
  26.            "Above Top Secret," by Timothy Goode, where three or four of 
  27.            your  letters  are quoted concerning your attempts to  enter 
  28.            Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

  31. GOLDWATER: Uh-hum.

  33. CALLER   : Do   you   believe  that  the  government   is   withholding 
  34.            information on UFOs?

  37. GOLDWATER: Yes  I  do.    But  I don't know enough  about  the  subject 
  38.            involving Wright-Pat. to form any opinion.  I  remember when 
  39.            I first tried to get into that room out at Wright-Pat. and I 
  40.            went  to General Curtis LeMay,  an old friend of mine,   and 
  41.            asked  him.    He  used some pretty plain  language  and  in 
  42.            effect, told me to "go to hell" and...

  45. KING     : That's the room where they are rumored to have aliens?

  48. GOLDWATER: Well,   its  a storage room where they are supposed to  have 
  49.            some   of  the  evidence  they've  collected   relative   to 
  50.            Unidentified  Flying Objects.   I  have  never...I  wouldn't 
  51.            argue  against them.   I  wouldn't argue for them.   My only 
  52.            thinking  on  it  is this planet of ours is one  of  several 
  53.            billion planets in this universe.  I  can't believe that God 
  54.            or  whomever is in charge would put thinking bodies on  only 
  55.            one planet.  So I'm a firm believer that  something  can fly 
  56.            around here that the Wright Brothers didn't have anything to 
  57.            do with.
